This silver bracelet is decorated with red plastic stones and a coin. The years on the coin refer to both the Islamic (1382) and the equivalent in the Gregorian era (1963). Under the red plastic are pieces of paper with Arabic letters. The addition of texts written on paper under glass is not common in Yemeni jewellery. It is possible that this method was chosen because people specifically wanted to add texts to a bracelet without adding cylindrical or rectangular amulet holders with texts. Amulet holders with paper inscriptions were common as pendants on Yemenite necklaces. Silver plates with engraved texts were also used as necklaces. Although not all of the texts written here have been deciphered, the texts seem to convey blessings to the wearer. The Arabic word 'afiya', which means health, is evidence of this. The addition of words of blessing to jewelry and to metal tableware has been a part of Arab tradition from time immemorial.‖ Bracelets, like anklets, were generally worn in pairs. At their weddings, Jewish women wore up to five pairs of bracelets. Muslim women in the Hadramaut, a mountainous region in southeast Yemen, wore up to seven pairs of bracelets at weddings (Ransom 2011: 30-31).‖ This closed bracelet consists of a thick oval inner band of silver on which a decorative silver plate has been soldered at the front. This silver plate widens and narrows and is set with three large red plastic stones surrounded by granules, spheres and teardrop shapes surrounded by filigree, and on the surface soldered diamonds and round discs of silver. Between the two ends of the decorated silver plate is soldered a Yemeni coin between two eyes with dates 1382 and 1963. Three link chains are attached between the eyes.
