این نشان که به عنوان نماد امتیاز فعالیت داروسازی استفاده می‌شد، دارای ارتفاع ۱۰۲ سانتی‌متر، عرض ۱۱۵ سانتی‌متر و عمق ۲۴ سانتی‌متر است. این اثر عقابی دو سر و سیاه را با بال‌های گشوده نشان می‌دهد که در یک چنگال عصای سلطنتی و در چنگال دیگر گوی امپراتوری را نگه داشته است. در مرکز عقاب، نشان دوک‌نشین بزرگ فنلاند قرار دارد و در بالای آن تاجی دیده می‌شود. این نشان در سال ۱۹۲۷ توسط داروساز بیرگر پوپیوس به موزهٔ پوروو اهدا شد.

The apothecary's coat of arms has a crown at the top.؛ Exhibition: ”Russian crows” – The badge of privileges of the Porvoo Old Pharmacy The wooden sign is decorated with the symbols of the Russian empire and the Finnish coat of arms. The sign which was a token for proving the right to practice pharmaceutical activities used to hang on the wall of the pharmacy Porvoon Vanha apteekki. Porvoon vanha apteekki has a long and storied history. The first pharmacy was founded in Porvoo in 1745, when the king of Sweden granted Porvoo the right to operate a pharmacy. The first pharmacist Johan Daniel Schön vouched for the quality of his work to the Collegium Medicum, which monitored the activities of pharmacies. In the beginning of the 1840s the old pharmacy was operating in the Sugar Factory building on the corner of Mannerheiminkatu and Piispankatu. During Russian rule pharmaceutical privileges became pharmacist-specific, and the rights granted by the senate were communicated to the customers with a badge attached either to the outside or inside wall of the operation. In 1927 the pharmacist of the Vanha apteekki, Birger Poppius (1875–1937), donated the now-unnecessary badge of privilege to Porvoo Museum. The donation form included the detail that the object depicted the Russian crows (ryska kråkar), which was a common term used to mock the two-headed eagle symbol of the Russian empire. |
